Hi everyone it’s Cindy here. First I want to say that I checked the ingredients of all the ice cream in our freezer and non of it contained Xylitol. Thanks for the heads up on that even though like Frankie noted I didn’t leave a lot for Walter to lick.
Now I want to tell you a little about how Walter greets people. We admit that his manners need a little more work but so far Walter hasn’t met anyone he hasn’t liked. On Saturday evening I had a friend come over for dinner that I haven’t seen for a long time and Millie & Walter had never met. We were supposed to go to an outdoor concert later but rain cancelled those plans.
My friend Maggie and I used to work together at our local humane society. Maggie has owned many dogs of all types and sizes and is excellent when greeting dogs she has never met. Her calm gentle demeanor endears any dog to her. Shortly after she entered the house Maggie sat down in one of the kitchen chairs. Walter did his usual greeting where he puts his front paws on your lap (okay I have to admit that I do allow him to do this with me every day so he doesn’t really know any better – I love my Walter hugs). He kept trying to give Maggie kisses so she decided she would help him and this was the result.
I didn’t have the camera handy at first but Charlie ran to get it and this was what we caught. Maggie had hoisted his butt onto her lap and the two enjoyed a wonderful snuggle. As you can see everyone had smiles on their faces. Walter might be a bit much for some people but I knew Maggie didn’t mind and just embraced Walter’s enthusiastic way of saying hello.
Since the concert was rained out we just enjoyed a lovely evening of catching up and the pups enjoyed getting to know Maggie too. I have to say Walter sure is one happy pup that loves to meet new people and does it with lots of passion.
OMG! This tugs at my heart!!! I so miss my canine affection.. And I just love dogs that greet this way!! I met one of my blog buddies and her new dogs last summer and one of them greeted me this way! I just love love love it!
Oh we like Maggie!! Any hooman who welcomes you onto their lap (regardless of your size) is A-OK in our books!!
Wally & Sammy
It’s wonderful when you find someone who enjoys your dogs as much as you…
Sounds like despite the rain and no concert it was a great night and everyone enjoyed themselves. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Best wishes Molly
you both look cute 🙂
What a sweet picture of you and Maggie, Walter! We love your smiles ☺
Love ya lots♥
Mitch and Molly
Bless your great big loving heart Walter! It appears you and Maggie are now BFFFFFFS, I love this picture!
Yay for rain so that you had more Maggie time!
Hugs
Madi your bffff
THAT is super of you to welcome your new furend into the house, Walter.
How pawsome! A dog lover that let you climb onto her lap 🙂
Another pup who understands that “lap dog” is a state of mind.
Walter you are the custest “lapdog” I ever saw. It must be great to get such a warm Walter-Welcome!
I love people that “get” dogs and don’t mind it when they do supposedly “inappropriate” things. Maggie is a true dog lover! Who could resist Walter’s charms anyway? Not me!
What a beautiful photo!!! Such happy faces on both. Mom says she wishes Phantom would have used the paw greeting when he was younger. He used to greet all children who were eye-level or smaller with a nose bop on the forehead. Talk about a good way to startle kiddos. Happily he has outgrown THAT.
Thanks for stopping by.
Woos – Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
What a wonderful meet, greet and snuggle time! Jakey is also a “hugger” and uninvited snuggler…but not quite as big!
BOL Fenris and Walter have a lot in common. Fenris thinks he is a lap dog too. How nice that Walter and Maggie enjoyed getting to know each other better so much. ~Tuiren
Aren’t we pups just some loveable guys, and we have never met a Walter we didn’t like, Hugs & kisses to you Walter!
The Mad Scots
Despite all our training, we would probably do this very same thing! It is a great pic too!

Pee Ess – Just 2 days until the first ever Fractured Fryday Hairy Tails (see tab on our bloggy for details).
I love that photo of Walter and Maggie!!! What a sweet boy, Walter is! Believe it or not, my very shy Shyla sat in a guest’s lap the other night. I almost fell out of my chair in shock! But, she’s been doing lots of surprising things like that lately. Maybe Walter has told her how nice people are!
Maggie’s smile made me smile right back at her!
Walter is certainly a pro when it comes to welcoming people!
Woofs,
Tommy
Now see?!!? THAT’S how you make someone feel welcomed and loved! Great job, Walter!
Yours sincerely,
Margaret Thatcher
That’s so nice that Walter loves to greet and welcome people! Cocco just comes and destroys their bags looking for food.
Walter I love seeing you all snuggly!!
Loveys Sasha
I love a big lap dog. They can never be too big in my opinion. Sam
