What are you talking about Mom? I thought you liked air conditioned socks.

What are you talking about Mom? I thought you liked air conditioned socks.

Hi everyone it’s Cindy here. I wasn’t wearing the sock when the mischief took place, but I thought it would be easier to show what had been done this way (please excuse the pasty white leg). Some pup stole the sock from a basket of folded clothes right under my nose! I heard him chewing on something and didn’t think it sounded like one of his usual bones. Upon further investigation this is what I found.

I did find some pieces of chewed up sock on the floor so not all of it went into his stomach.

My smashed finger is feeling better and I have been commenting on some blogs a bit more but I’m not up to full strength yet. Thanks for not forgetting about us.

lgthe queen of hearts

Hi everyone it’s Walter here. Today is the big Queen of Hearts Dance and I’m ready to take my date Tuiren to the ball. My sweet date Tui sent me this awesome Valentine yesterday. She sure is a great gal!

Before we got all gussied up I decided to take her out for a bite to eat.

Oh my Walter that looks like a lot of food! We need to fuel up so we can dance the night away Tui!

There is no better way to go than to get a Garbage Plate at Nick Tahou’s. We did make sure to leave a little room for some snacks from Sasha and Ruby too though.

Slurp! It sure is fun to share a milkshake with you Tui.

We finished off our dinner by sharing a nice milkshake. Don’t worry it was carob and not chocolate. I even let Tui have the cherry off the top, but i had some fun licking the whipped cream off her nose 😉

It’s time to head to the dance, but my mom said we have to take Millie as our chaperone. She is going as a single and hoping to dance with some of the single guys like Murphy.

You look amazing Tui! You sure are handsome in that tux Walter.

We are dressed and ready to head to the Queen of Hearts Dance. Be sure to hop over to Madi’s blog to find out about all the action. Tui and I are off to the dance floor and hopefully loose Millie in the process. We hope you all have fun at the ball too.

P.S. My mom wanted me to mention that she is still milking nursing her bum finger so we aren’t commenting much but we are visiting all our friends blogs to see what you are up to.

Hi everyone it’s Millie here. I’m filling in for my mom to tell you about some mischief she got into a couple of days ago. You see a few days ago she started putting her treadmill back together. In order to move it to the basement a couple of years ago she and dad had to take it apart to make the parts light enough to carry. She wants to start using it again since this winter has been so crappy and we can’t get out for walks. Well she was almost done when part of the frame came crashing down and squished her fingers into a gap in the base.

Bottom finger is the swollen one

Some loud HBO words came out of her mouth, but she was sure it wasn’t broken just squished. How did she know it wasn’t broken you ask? Well years ago our mom was a klutz and broke two fingers (at different times) so she said she knows what a broken finger feels like. Luckily it is her left hand, but even if you are right handed you do use your left more than you like when it hurts.

She put lots of ice on it the first day and it is already feeling much better. It is still a bit stiff and gets sore if she uses it too much. Our mom wanted all of you to know that to help her hand heal quicker she is not commenting on any blogs for a few days. We are keeping up and reading all your blogs, but we just can’t leave any comments.

We think maybe we should ship our mom off to France to recuperate with  Easy’s dad who chopped off a piece of his finger a few days ago. Maybe together they can use two hands.

A Dog’s Tale

Hi everyone it’s Cindy here to tell you about some excitement we had on Thursday morning. The day started as most do with a check of the thermometer before taking the dogs out for their morning constitutional. It was 4°F. Another frigid morning that called for quick trips from the pups. We all had our breakfast and after that Charlie headed back up to the bedroom.

In order to get upstairs you have to pass through our front foyer. As you can see there are long skinny windows on either side of the door. The pups often hang out here and watch the world (or what little of it they can see) go by. In typical Charlie fashion he glanced out the window and noticed something out of place.

Upon closer inspection he said, “Hey there is a dog in our driveway!” I jumped up and took a look and sure enough there was a large pitbull type dog sitting in the middle of our driveway quite a ways from the house. I grabbed my coat, boots and some treats and went out through the garage to see if I could lure the dog to me.

As you can see we have a very long driveway and the dog was about 200+ feet from the house. Unfortunately as soon as I stepped about 5 feet from the garage the dog ran toward the road so I retreated to the house.

He didn’t go very far and just sat down again. I called our local animal control to report him in hopes that someone was already looking for him. Before I could get his full description out of my mouth the animal control officer finished the description. He also told me that “Bruno” had escaped from his house at about 6pm the previous night. That meant the poor boy had been out in near 0°F temps all night. Charlie looked at the dog with binoculars and noticed that he was wearing a collar and that it looked like his feet were hurting him because he kept lifting his paws. This pup needed to get home soon!

It was evident that Bruno had been hanging around our house for a while by the amount of tracks he left. We first thought these were from deer but upon closer inspection realized they were from the dog. I even found his prints right at our garage doors.

Within a half hour the owner and the animal control officer were at our house. I told them that the last time I had seen the dog was in the wooded area in front of the house and let them know they were welcome to wander around in there if they wanted. The owner went out to the road and started calling the dogs name. I had gone back inside as I didn’t think there was anything more I could do and watched from the front window. In a few short minutes we could see movement in the woods and it was Bruno bounding through the snow towards his owner. After a few moments of joyful reunion the owner grabbed Bruno’s collar and lead him to his car. They sped away probably headed to the vet to have him checked out.

Charlie and I also did a little happy dance knowing that Bruno wouldn’t be suffering in the cold any longer. It was an amazing fluke that Charlie spotted the dog while glancing out that skinny window, but I’m so glad he did. One funny thing is that the dogs never barked at him, just the cars in the driveway.

Bruno isn’t our first stray dog rescue, but I hope he will be our last. Over the years we have had a few strays wander onto our property and every time we have been able to find the owner through our local animal control and reunite them.

I’ll leave you with a look at the snow pile we have accumulated in our driveway from the 12″ of snow we had on Wednesday. We are supposed to get some more snow tomorrow too!

Hi everyone it’s Walter here. Do you remember last week when I took a trip down south to meet Tuiren and her family? Well today it’s Tuiren’s turn to visit me. If you don’t already know Tuiren you can meet her and her and her family here.

Luckily the Polar Vortex has left us and we are having more normal winter temperatures.

Oooh Walter I think my feets are frozen Don't worry Tui we will head inside as soon as mom gets her picture

Since Tui had never seen snow we stepped outside just long enough for my mom to get a picture of us on our snow digging mound. I’m used to being out in the cold and love playing around in it but my sweet southern belle got cold very fast.

Tui and I decided to head inside to warm ourselves by the fire. We have a gas fireplace that you can just turn on with a click of a button so we were warmed up in no time. I was having a great time getting to know Tui better when Millie decided she needed to crash our party.

You really have a sweet brother Millie You shouldn't believe everything he tells you

Okay Millie you can go now! Big sisters can be such a bother and are always telling tall tales about their brothers. That’s okay I’ll get back at Millie when we go play in the yard later and I pin her in the snow.

I've had a great day today Walter I'm glad you came Tui and I can't wait for the big dance next week.

I’m glad you came Tui and I can’t wait for the big dance next week.

I took Tui to the living room and had my dad put on some nice music so we could relax a while before she had to head home. Before too long it was time for Tui go but the good news is I will see her again next week for the Queen of Hearts Dance.

lgthe queen of hearts

I think now that Tui and I have gotten to know each other a little better we will be able to relax and enjoy ourselves more next week at the dance. I hope Tui can come back again in the summer when the weather is better. I’m sure she would love all our flowers just like her mom has in their garden.

Thanks for coming to visit us Tui I hope you had a good time.
