Or What Not to do By Millie!
Hi everyone it’s Millie & Walter here. First we want to thank Sarge and Bites for organizing this wonderful safety week. To view all the blogs participating, go to the hop at Oz’s site.
Today it’s our turn to do a post for Safety Week! If you are a follower of our blog you may remember a few videos we showed of our high speed antics around our yard (if you need a refresher you can go here, here and here). We don’t discriminate based on the weather either. We have learned a few things about our high speed antics and thought we would let our Mini Me’s demonstrate what we have learned.
It is best to go around the shrubbery wherever you are running. Otherwise you might end up with a stick up your nose.
As you can see, when Walter zigged Millie didn’t zag and instead ran right into one of the shrubs. This ended in an emergency trip to the vet but she recovered quickly.
The next scenario involves a tree and the same concept.
On the 4th of July we were zooming around the yard when Millie ran full speed into a tree and hit her knee. There was a small open wound but it wasn’t bleeding. We cleaned out the wound and kept our eye on how Millie was feeling. Since it happened on a holiday we figured she could wait until the next day to see a vet. She was a little stiff and sore the next day. The vet shaved the area around the wound and flushed it out with saline and determined that it didn’t need any stitches.
Here is a close up of the wound so if you are a bit squeamish scroll past real fast.
Don’t worry, in just a couple of weeks the wound was completely closed. In just a couple more weeks the hair has already completely grown back and you would never know anything had happened.
So the moral of the story is if you are going to run high speed anywhere Watch Where You Are Going!!!
We hope you enjoyed this lesson in how not to get hurt while zooming around your yard or dog park. Don’t forget to visit the other safety lessons today so go to Oz’s site to find them.
That was a great demonstration!! I am sorry about your booboo(it looks like it hurts), but your advice is great. Thanks very much for this great safety week post. Please stop by the food truck for some refreshment.

Oh my gosh! She is having terrible luck. I did laugh at the mini-reenactments too. 🙂
EXCELLENT presentation guys! The use of your mini-me’s to demonstrate was a stroke of genius…GENIUS we say!
Goodness Millie, we remember the “stick up the nose” incident very well butt we had not idea you collided with a tree too – sorry about that butt we’re glad to hear that your wound is fully mended.
Thanks you for the pawsome advice & tips guys, we are avid zoomie-ers too.
Wally & Sammy
That was a brilliant mini presentation. Safety first when doing zoomies for sure.
Poor you Millie those sure were some ouchies. Have a fabulous Friday.
Best wishes Molly
We love your bubblewrap jacket, Millie! This is all wonderful information! We dogs gotta stay safe!
Love ya lots♥
Mitch and Molly
Totally awesome presentation! We were sad to hear that the minis are not available anymore. We are very sorry to hear about Millie and hope she is feeling better! The bubble wrap idea is brilliant! I must try to find some pink for Chloe!
Mini Millie and Walter what a great fun post….well until you got stuck with the shrub. Great advice. OMDS that was an interesting wound.
I nearly fell out of the chair with the bubble wrap….MOLMOL MOL
Hugs madi your bfff
Hmmm…Sure wish I would of read your post a number of years ago when I zoomed up the stairs chasing Brudder Max (DaOdderWeenie) My zoom resulted in a very painful neck surgery after I hit the step head on while trying to zoom up the stairs.
Hey Millie & Walter!
Wow, great zoomie tips there! OMD I love how your mini’s did the demonstrations. BWAR HAR HAR Very creative and an excellent way to present the info. Gosh, I could have used these tips about 3 years ago…chasing my beloved stick I ran smack into a pile of brush and scratched my eye. You can still see it in pix of me if the angle is right. HOLY MOLY I think I’ll see about that bubble plastic idea…if Mom hasn’t popped it all. BOL Thanks a ton for hosting this and doing such a great job!

OMD, this is some grreat advice. Zig THEN zag. Never furget that! Luckily we have a good zoomie track in my yard without any shrubs or trees in the way, but Grandma’s yard is more of an obstacle course.
Haha this reenactment is priceless! I might have to steal this idea for times when I don’t catch Eko and Penny with my camera. Genius!
Oh, I can attest to this being spot on! I have run into the walls sometimes when playing zoomies in the house. It hurts. Every dog must pay attention to where they are running. Excellent post!

That was an excellent reenactment – and learning the fine art of zigging and zagging is so important – the two just have to go together.
THIS is a MAXIMUM Mini Me lesson in Zoomie Safety fur SURE… OMD you Minis are MARVELOUS teachers… WE took MANY MANY notes and are taking this class very much seriously. No one wants to end up at the Dogtor with 87 stitches and stuffs… BRAVO WELL DONE…
You Minis did a super job of explaining thingys… and your REAL LIFE illustrations are GRRRRREAT.
and…. OMD the BUBBLE WRAP… THAT is OUTSTANDING.
THANK YOU THANK YOU Mini Walter and Mini Millie.
Wow, that looked like it needed stitches or at least glued! Great tips we will remember for when we are zooming!

Pee Ess – Mom said we should tell you that the book is about a 62 year old lady named Lydia who is forced into a retirement. She lives a neat or orderly life, always making safe choices. But now she must reinvent her new normal which includes adopting Cooper from a shelter.
We are cracking up at your reenactments a

Good advice, that silly Mister Who kept running into the fence post. He doesn’t live here anymore he lives with our oldest boy who got his own house. ~Tuiren
Wow that was a bad ouchie on your knee, Millie. I’m glad it healed so well. Many thanks for your great advice, I once landed in a bush too while zooming around. Inside of the bush were blackberries what had evil thorns…it needed 87 hours to remove them with a tweezer, so next time I better follow your tips :o)
Wow what a super informative and helpful post! I didn’t know poor Millie was that accident-prone…maybe you’re pawrents should think about TWO layers of bubble wrap? BOL
Oh Millie, you are such a good example of ZOOMIE SAFETY, thanks for the lessons, sorry about the ochies!
Millie & Walter, thanks for being part of Safety Week and your information

Great advice for those who Go For The Gusto when they play zoomies. But me with my deformities I play slow so I am safe right?
Thanks
Sweet William The Scot
Wow, thanks again for the super post! I’m pretty sure Mom popped all of our bubble plastic, so I’ll have to order something so I get a box with more in it. BOL You will be entered in the Host Appreciation Drawing for a cool prize. Random drawing to be held on Monday, August 18th.

This is a lesson that Maggie and gus need to pay attention to cos they zoom everyday in the family room, around the chairs, behind the couch and over the tables, they go nuts, and momma says one of these days someone is gonna get hurt, she says probably it will be her….stella rose
A Zoomie injury is the worst kind. We payed close attention so we won’t get hurt. Thanks for such a great lesson.
Great advice….except for the bubble wrap and helmet, maybe. Sometimes you just get carried away in the moment and throw caution to the winds. Glad you haven’t had really bad injuries.
We took lots of notes, Jacob and Arty play crazy zoomies like that..but usually they play inside…where everything is cushy!!
Smileys!

Excellent post! I like to do zoomies around the house sometimes, mom is afraid I will run into the furniture!
hugs

Thanks for the visual demonstration. It certainly helps us to see the danger of high-speed zoomies. We are sorry about your boo-boo. Come by to ride our Hot Air Balloon at the picnic!
Great post, Millie and Walter – loved the visuals:) Now we are all wondering if it isn’t a good thing that we don’t have a beautiful yard full of pretty trees and bushes like you do:) Just kidding – we are very jealous of your lovely yard.
Woos – Phantom, Ciara, and Lightning
Very clever presentation!! You crashed into a TREE??
Too bad I didn’t learn this years ago. Some doggie friends and I crashed into Mom and she had to have major surgery. Years later, she still has to wear a knee brace when we go for walkies. Ooops.

We Beaglebratz kinda slowed down around Safety Week – we didn’t vizit any blog much. Millie – our mom sed u remind her of sum of her classmatez when she wuz young – sum of them always had a broken arm or their leg wrapped up or sumthin’goin’on. Don’t furget the knee padz when duin’zoomiez.
