Hi everyone! It’s Walter here! It’s time for a special Chewy.com review.

Hey mom! There are no treats in this box.

Here’s a look at what was in the box. A Large ThunderShirt. There are other sizes of ThunderShirts you can get to meet your needs.

You may not know this about me but I can get a bit anxious/excited in certain situations. For example the last two times I’ve had to go to the V.E.T. (just for routine shots) when I came home I was so excited that I drank a bunch of water and then brought my breakfast back up on the floor. When the nice ladies at Chewy.com offered a ThunderShirt to review my pawrents jumped at the opportunity.

According to Chewy.com a ThunderShirt:

“…uses gentle hugging to calm your dog. With its patented design, Thundershirt’s gentle, constant pressure has a dramatic calming effect for most dogs if they are anxious, fearful or overexcited.”

Some of the key benefits of using ThunderShirts are:

  • Patented design applies gentle, constant pressure to calm anxiety, fear, and over-excitement. This gentle hugging produces a dramatic calming effect
  • Calms your dog during fireworks, thunder, separation, travel, vet visits, grooming, and much more with no training and no medication
  • Comfortable and easy on/off. Made of durable, breathable, soft fabric that is washable.
  • Recommended by trainers and veterinarians to relieve stress-related behaviors such as jumping, excessive barking, and inappropriate marking
  • Proven effective in over 80% of dogs

According to the instructions before putting the ThunderShirt on for the first time, you should offer a small food treat using the folded ThunderShirt as a plate.

Is that treat for me?

Then mom tried it on me.

I look hot in this shirt don’t I?

It took a little wrangling to understand which flaps went where but by following the instructions she had it on me in no time. The large size fit me perfectly. I didn’t have any adverse reaction to wearing it and I think it felt pretty good. You may remember that I wore it while Millie & I tested the Kong Classic and Kong Easy Treat.

We didn’t have a V.E.T. visit to use as a test but we did have someone come to our house to discuss some work my pawrents are going to have done soon. To make it easier for our guest Millie and I were closed into our living room and our mom hung out with us.

Mom I hear a strange man talking to dad.

Normally I would be quite wound up and bark a lot. As you will see in the following video Millie was the one doing all the barking while I just paced a little and did a little whining.

Now let’s see how I did.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

This is more relaxed than usual for me with a stranger in the house.

As you saw by the end of the video I was able to lay down for a while and relax a bit. I admit I was still ready to jump up if necessary but my mom said it was more relaxed than usual for me. I also wore my ThunderShirt when we went on a car ride to pick up some take out food (sorry no pictures for this). Car rides can be very exciting and I usually spend the entire trip looking out the windows but this time I actually laid down and almost took a nap on the way home. My pawrents say it was the calmest I’ve ever been on a car ride.

I’ve worn my ThunderShirt a few times around the house just for the fun of it so my pawrents say I won’t associate it with only bad or stressful things. I don’t mind wearing it at all and since we have AC in the house I don’t get hot either.

I give ThunderShirt 4 paws up (because that is all the paws I have) and I recommend it to all our friends. We plan on using the ThunderShirt for my next V.E.T. visit or the next time we go to PetSmart for our nail trim and will let you know how that went too. We are also thinking of picking up another ThunderShirt for Millie so we both will have one.

Hi everyone. It’s Millie and Walter here. The weather has been super hot here most of the summer so it was nice when the weather cooled off long enough for us to get outside to play and let our mom take some flower pictures.

We have lots of perennials and shrubs in bloom right now but we are only going to show you are daylilies today. Let’s get on with the show.

We hope you enjoyed checking out our daylilies that are blooming in our yard right now.

We are joining Arty, Jakey and Rosy for this weeks Flower Friday. Stop by their blog to see what other blogs are doing. They probably have flowers of their own to show.

Hi everyone! It’s Walter here. Do you have jobs around your house that you do to help out your pawrents? Well I do and it is so much fun.

Every day when the mail comes I wait for my pawrents to sort through it.

Then they hand me the junk mail and I take care  of it for them.

This junk mail is a bit gamy.

Here is a little video of how I help.

If you can’t see the video you can go to view it.

Sometimes I help by making big envelopes into a jigsaw puzzle. I’m really good at just ripping things apart and not eating any of it. The fun part is in the end my pawrents have to clean up all the mess. I would love to hear about the jobs you do to help your pawrents around the house.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie & Walter here! It’s time for a special Chewy.com review.

What’s in the Chewy box today?
I don’t know but it smells good.

Here’s a look at what was in the box. A Large Kong Classic and a can of Kong Easy Treat Liver Recipe. There are other sizes of Kongs you can get and other flavors of Easy Treats too.

This summer has been super hot for many of us. Our area has had record high temps and this time of year the biting flies are so relentless we don’t want to be outside except to do our business. To help us keep busy in the cool comfort of our air conditioned home our pawrents like to fill Kongs for us.

According to Chewy.com the Kong Classic is:

“…the gold standard of dog toys and has become the staple for dogs around the world for over forty years. Offering enrichment by helping satisfy dogs’ instinctual needs, the KONG Classic’s unique all-natural red rubber formula is ultra-durable with an erratic bounce that is ideal for dogs that like to chew while also fulfilling a dog’s need to play. Want to extend play time? Be sure to stuff with tempting bits of kibble and entice with a dash of peanut butter. Add to the fun by adding KONG Snacks and topping with KONG Easy Treat.”

Some of the key benefits of using Kongs are:

  • Perfect for stuffing with KONG treats or KONG pastes for even longer-lasting play.
  • The gold standard of dog toys, provides play, helps reduce boredom and relieves separation anxiety.
  • Unpredictable bounce for virtually unlimited games of fetch, even while you’re away.
  • Recommended by veterinarians, trainers, and dog enthusiasts; used worldwide for over forty years.
  • Made in the USA from KONG Classic ultra-durable, all-natural red rubber formula.

First we wanted to give the Easy Treat a taste test.

That smells delish!
I can’t wait to get my tongue on it.

Next it was time for our pawrents to fill the Kongs up. We already had one Kong Classic so we each had one.

The ingredients for a perfect Kong

Our dad has come up with a great formula to make the stuffed Kongs last a long time. We use one Medium size Milkbone, a couple of Freeze Dried Liver Treats and a squirt of the Kong Easy Treat for each Kong.

First break the Milkbone in half and stuff into the narrow end of the Kong.

Add a squirt of the Easy Treat

Top it off with the liver treats.

Those Kongs smell great!

We’re waiting!

Now let’s see how we did.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

We love having Kongs on hot days.

We didn’t want to bore you with watching us finish all the way because it took us about 45 minutes to get all the goodies out of them. With all that licking we were pretty tired too. If you need something to keep you busy for a while why not give a Kong a try?

We give Kong Classic and Kong Easy Treat Liver Recipe 8 paws up (because that is all the paws we have) and we recommend them to all our friends.

P.S. You might be wondering why Walter is wearing a ThunderShirt. We are doing a review of that too (at a later date) and our pawrents thought it would be good to have him wear it for the first time while working on the Kong. That way he associates it with good things to start with. Stay tuned to see how it works for him.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie and Walter here. There’s been a heat wave hitting much of our country and our friends in Canada too. Because of it we haven’t been able to play outside for much at all so this is how we are beating the heat.

I like to make sure my ear is properly cooled.

As you can see I like to take full advantage of all the cool air blowing out of our vents with the AC on. It’s not as soft as a pillow but it kept me cool.

I don’t need an air vent to keep me cool.

Millie is a heat worshiper so she doesn’t need to lay against a vent to keep cool. When we do go outside she likes to just lay in the sun and roll around on the grass. What a silly girl. She is almost like a solar panel always trying to charge her batteries.

The high temp yesterday. Today’s high so far is 98°!

For our foreign friends 97° F is equal to 36° C. If you add in the humidity the “feels like” temp yesterday was over 100° F. We sure will be happy when this heat wave is over and hope all our friends are finding ways to keep cool too.
