Hi everyone! It’s Millie here. Do you know what day it is? The title of this post should give you a little hint.

It’s a great day to be me!
(March 2020)

Today I turn 8 years old but to me it’s 8 years young because I still often feel like a puppy. I didn’t get to my forever home until I was about 4 months old and I don’t remember much of the early months of my life. Things sure were good when I landed in a foster home but it was even better when I found my mom and dad. Let’s take a walk down memory lane.

I’m cute huh?
(October 2012)

I’ve always loved being out in the snow
(February 2013)

I enjoy hanging out in my yard
(October 2014)

Snow wrestling is so much fun. Especially when I’m winning.
(February 2015)

It’s great being out in the yard during any season
(November 2016)

Did I mention I love the snow?
(March 2017)

I enjoy watching out the windows, even with Walter.
(April 2018)

Don’t I look great against these yellow leaves?
(November 2018)

This is my serious look
(May 2019)

Walter and I have lots of fun in the snow.
(January 2020)

Laying next to my dad is one of my favorite things to do.
(February 2020)

I love my life!
(March 2020)

Thanks for joining me on this trip down memory lane. It’s been a great first 8 years. I hope I have as much fun for the next 8!

Hi everyone! It’s Walter here. Today is a big day for me. I turn 6 and my mom told me that means I’m officially a senior citizen.

So I have a little grey on my muzzle. Does that make me a senior citizen?

I had a little grey on my chin when I was a little pup too.

I sure am a lucky pup to have landed in my great home.

I have the best back yard to hang out in

I have the best sister to play with.

There is nothing better than wrestling in the snow

Sometimes we take a break and just hang out together

My pawrents spend lots of money on toys just for me.

I love to steal the used milk cartons out of the recycling bin

My favorite is the freeze dried liver container

I get some real toys too but I’m not a picky guy and I’m happy with whatever I can chew on or play with.

I love when my dad plays fetch with me

I love to snuggle with my pawrents

The first few months of my life weren’t very good but since I found my forever home life couldn’t be any better. I also have a great girlfriend (and her family) that sent me this beautiful card.

Thanks Tuiren and family

I sure don’t feel like a senior citizen and can still jump straight up from a stand still to look my mom in the eyes. Like they say you are as young as you feel.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie & Walter here. Yesterday was a special day for both of us. Five years ago Millie first set foot in our home.

Foster Parents Michael & Darcy watch as Charlie has Millie sit for a treat.

I was kind of scared at first and when my foster pawrents left I cried myself to sleep. Funny thing is that when I woke up I didn’t cry anymore because I knew I was staying here forever.

Also five years ago Walter was born (okay we don’t really know when he was born but it is a close approximation). His life didn’t start out too well but a few months later he would be here in his forever home too.

This is one of the first pictures taken of me in my new home so it’s the closest thing to a puppy picture we have.

Yesterday we had a little celebration.

There were a couple of big bones and mom added some whipped cream down the middle.

I’m trying not to stare.
Maybe if I don’t look I won’t be tempted.

Eventually our mom let us have our treats. Here is a video of all the action.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

We both took our bones to the grass where it was easier to chew on them.

It takes a lot of concentration to break this huge bone.

It’s tough to get my mouth around this thing.

We both worked hard on those bones but our pawrents took them away after we had eaten about half of them. They said they were worried about what it might do to our tummies and they promised that we would get to finish them soon.

What a great way to celebrate 5 years in my forever home.
And a great way for me to celebrate 5 years of life.

Hi everyone! Today is Millie’s 5th birthday*. It’s hard to believe that the little, floppy eared, bundle of spunk that came to us at 5 months old is 5 already.

Millie on her first day in her forever home

She showed her true nature on her first day here when she decided to pick a fight with one of our garden statues.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

That looks perfect dad. Can we get it please?

She had her daddy wrapped around her little paw right from the start but seriously who could resist those eyes?

I’m cute huh?

For a while both of her ears were floppy…

…but eventually her right ear started to straighten up.

Her love for snow became apparent during her first winter.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

In April of 2013 she welcomed Walter with open paws.

What’s daddy eating?
I don’t know but he better give me some first.

Right from the start Millie has been the happiest when she is hanging out in her backyard.

I love laying under my favorite tree

Of course she enjoys sharing her yard with Walter too.

Millie has some quirks that always make us smile.

This is what Millie does every day after breakfast. It took setting up a “hidden” camera to get it on video. If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it

One thing Millie does real well is snuggle.

You call this snuggling? I say she is hogging the bed.

Her favorite place to snuggle is right next to her dad.

A Charlie Sandwich with Millie up close to her dad

Did I mention how much she likes the snow…

…or how much she enjoys hanging out in the yard under her favorite tree?

With all the work going on in the kitchen right now there won’t be much of a celebration but we will make it up to her when the project is finished. We would like to thank Madi and her mom for sending such a sweet birthday card to Millie.

Don’t tell dad that Madi came for a visit

She also received one from Walter’s sweetie Tuiren and her family.

Thanks to our friends for sending such thoughtful cards.

Happy Birthday Millie! We love you!

* We really don’t know when her birthday is but today is a close approximation.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie & Walter here. We have a bone to pick with our mom. Do you know what day today is? Well if you keep up with the Blogville birthdays you will know that today is Walter’s birthday.

I’m 4 years old today!

That’s not all that is special about today. Do you know what else happened 4 years ago today besides Walter being born? Maybe this will jog your memories (for those that knew us then).

This was taken my first days in my forever home.

Look at me now!

Look at me now!

If you guessed that it’s Millie’s Gotcha Day you would be right. Once on this day mom baked us a cake to celebrate.

Mmmm...that smells great! Are we done with the pictures now?

This was a tasty blast from the past.

This time our mom says she can’t bake anything for us and she is claiming that it’s because her oven is broken! We’ll let her explain.

Hi everyone. It’s Cindy here. Back in the beginning of August our oven went dark.

Notice no clock showing on the oven.

Notice no clock showing on the oven.

We tried to get it repaired but there are no parts available for a 21 year old oven. When we went to buy one the sales person suggested we have an installer come first to make sure we were ordering the right size oven. Well since we have our cook top installed just above our oven it would have been next to impossible to find an oven that would fit under a 21 year old cook top. The only solution was to replace both of them. I won’t go into the boring details but there were delays in securing the cook top and as of now we have the new oven in our garage…

New oven...still in the box.

New oven…still in the box.

…and it will finally get installed this coming Thursday (along with the new cook top)! Mom Cindy out!

Millie Walter - Birthday Party Hats

Let’s celebrate!

Well we guess we will just have to find some other way to celebrate today but we hope our mom makes us a cake for her first time baking with the new oven.

We think since there isn’t going to be a cake today we should at least get extra treats.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie here.

Millie - head shot

Do you know what day it is? Let me give you a hint.

puppy birthday cake 2

That’s right…it’s my birthday! Today I turn 3 years old. My pawrents can’t believe I can be 3 already. I hope mom bakes me a cake like the one above. I might even be nice and share some with Walter too.

2015 Birthday card from VET

Check out the cute e-card I got from my VET!

Millie - hanging out under tree

The weather is a little nicer today (we had record temps of 90º F during the past few days) so I expect to be hanging out in the yard and snoopervising my dad’s yard work.

Since this is supposed to be Mischief Monday mom found this video of me from the first day I came to my forever home. It is cell phone video and until recently she couldn’t get it to play right side up. The quality isn’t as good as our regular videos and there are some glitches but I think you will enjoy it.

If you can’t see the video or want to see a larger version you can go here to see it.

As you could see I was very fierce and ready to take on anyone who was in my yard even if they didn’t move. You can’t see what I’m barking at very well so here is a picture of it from last year in the garden.

It’s in a new location now and I don’t even notice it any more. Doesn’t that sculpture look scary to you?

Well I hope you all have as nice a day as I’m having.

Happy Birthday to Me!

Hi everyone it’s Millie here. First I want to thank everyone for the fantastic birthday wishes. I’m also thrilled to have gotten three proposals for date day and have accepted the offer from Tommy. Sorry Otto and Arty maybe next event we can get together. I’m very excited to be going on a date with Tommy since he lives in France which we all know is the best place to be a dog.

Today Oz the Terrier is hosting a Limerick Day Contest so we thought we would give it a try. It fits perfectly with our Mischief Monday theme too.

The Mischief Maker

The Mischief Maker

Around our yard we have lots of chipmunks. When we run out to the yard we make a bee line where they usually hang out but have not been able to catch one yet. They are very fast and can run and hide in small holes (like our drain pipe).

I, Millie am always on watch for them when I’m inside the house. They do tease me a lot. Here is a video of me watching one. He is lucky that I’m inside the house or he would be toast.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

Now here is my limerick inspired by that video.

There once was a dog named Millie
Who thought chipmunks were oh so silly
When they scurried about
It made Millie shout
And jump around like a filly

Keeping track of that Chippie is exhausting!

Keeping track of that Chippie is exhausting!

Chippie watching can be very tiring. I’m glad our windows go down low and have a nice ledge to rest my head on. One of these days that chipmunks luck is bound to run out don’t you think?
