Hi everyone! It’s Millie here. The weather so far this winter has been miserably cold especially in the mornings when it has been in the single digits (degrees F). When it’s that cold neither of us can stay outside for more than a couple of minutes without trying to levitate and not walk in the snow. There is one way to make that better.

I really don’t like these booties.

In order to give us enough time to do our business we get fleece booties put on our feet. I think most of you would agree wearing booties is no fun. Here is a little video of how much I hate wearing these things.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

The funny thing is that once I get outside in the snow it’s like I don’t have any booties on and can walk and run around normally. Why is that?

BTW I have such tiny feet that my mom custom made my booties to fit me. We were so happy that the temps this afternoon were in the 20’s and we got to have some play time in the snow. We have about a foot of it on the ground right now. That was lots of fun.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie & Walter here. We’ve just finished a crazy week (or so). Let’s catch you up.

It all started last Wednesday night, March 8th. Our area in Rochester, NY was experiencing a very nasty wind storm. The gusts were predicted to be around 60 mph but the highest gust registered that day was 84 mph! Needless to say by 7:30 pm we lost power. Mom and dad gathered some lights and candles and we all settled down in the bedroom hoping the power would come back soon.

Hooking by Headlamp

It was too early to go to bed so mom did some crochet with the help of her headlamp. We finally turned off the lights and went to bed around 9:30 pm. By 7 am we were awake and cold. Thanks to our gas fireplace we didn’t stay cold for long. Mom was worried about the food in the fridge and freezer so she got our generator going and then we had some lights too. Luckily our power came back on by about 3 pm.

Our Oma wasn’t so lucky she lost power the same day as us and after spending a couple nights with friends came to our house on Saturday since her house was still without power.

Oma you give good pats

We enjoyed having an extra pair of hands around to pet us and one more plate to lick clean after each meal. Oma was lucky to get her power back late the next day so she went home after dinner Sunday.

All was calm around here for about 24 hours and then Snow Storm Stella made her way to us. It snowed for about 48 hours straight and when it was all done we had over 26 inches (about 66 cm) of new snow on the ground! That’s 3rd on the all time list for continuous snow in March for our area.

Look at the snow drifts on our patio and roof!

We didn’t let a little snow stop us from enjoying a our time outside though. Dad had to clean some snow off the roofs below our skylights.

The snow was over mom’s knees.

And mom had to fill up the suet feeder for the birds. It was still snowing and blowing so hard it was coming down sideways.

I’m going to catch you Millie

We did what we usually do and had a blast dashing through the snow.

I have to break a trail to the big tree

You can see how deep the snow is but that didn’t slow us down at all.

Good work on the roof dad

Here is a video of some of our action.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

I love to just sit in the snow

Millie just loves to sit in the snow waiting for Walter to come out and play with her but sometimes she would just take off behind the plantings to explore.

Where did she go?

We didn’t let Stella slow us down and had a great time playing. It was quite cold at around 15° F (-9° C) so the snow was a very fine, dry powder.

Will this be our last storm of the season?

As you can see we made the most of a crazy week. It’s been a couple of days since all that snow fell and our temps have climbed to the upper 30’s (3-4° C). All that snow has started to melt and the snow pack has shrunk to about 6-8″.

This might not be our last snow of the season but we sure don’t expect to get that much again until next year. After such a mild February this March has been quite wild so far.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie & Walter here.  We love participating in the Blogville Christmas Gift Exchange every year. This year Walter received his gift from Buddy and Millie received her gift from Addi. They both know how to shop real well.

This is my box Millie I know I'm just taking a look

Walter’s pressies weren’t wrapped so he was able to just grab them out of the box.

This is a great toy! I'm going to have lots of fun with this.

Do you see that my name is on the card too?

That’s just the card Walter and you know I will share with you anyway.

Here is the loot we both got.

After mom got all the tags and wrappings off everything we had a great time playing with the toys. Here is a little video action of some of our pressie opening.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

Neither of us are any good at opening pressies even though Walter can rip an envelope to shreds in minutes. We let our mom unwrap the pressies from Addi and then we had fun with them.

I bet this rope will be fun to play with outside too.

We can’t thank our exchange partners enough. We love everything we got and should get lots play time with these. Those treats from Addi were very tasty too.

Thanks also to Oreo’s mom for arranging all of the exchange partners. We always love participating.

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Madi and Angel Easy to show their friend Sammy our favorite place in our home town.

Two dogs playing on a cool fall day

…it’s a wonderfully cool fall day to play fetch and search the yard for hidden treasures (maybe a mouse, mole or vole to dig up) there is no better place than home.

We love our back yard and are sure Sammy would enjoy visiting us here any time of the year.

Even with this celebration for Sammy we are sad to report that today he crossed the rainbow bridge. He was in poor health and that is why Madi and Easy wanted to let him travel the world with this blog hop today. As many of you already know our dear friend Easy didn’t win his battle with bloat and crossed the rainbow bridge a few days ago. We know Easy and Sammy are having a great time meeting up with all their friends that have gone to the bridge before them.

rainbow - starling flock in back yard

Here is a beautiful fall rainbow from our back yard to share with all our rainbow friends and the Angel sisters that lived here before us.

In addition to the pain from loosing Easy his pawrents have been left with a hefty vet bill that their insurance won’t cover. To help them donations are being accepted through PayPal. You can learn more about how you can help by visiting Murphy & Stanley’s blog. We made sure to get out our mom’s plastic card to send some money to Easy’s family.

It’s been a tough week in Blogville but we hope this tour of our back yard brought a smile to your face.

Hi everyone it’s Millie & Walter here. The people Olympics have just begun but we here in Blogville didn’t want to be left out of the fun so we are holding the Pawlympics at the same time. If you want to keep up with all the action you can find more information here.

Today there are two events taking place and we are in both of them. First up Murphy and Stanley are hosting the Swimming event. Now we don’t really do water in it’s liquid form but we love to be in snow which is just water in its crystal form.

Walter Millie - wrestle - Millie on top 3 - lr

Believe it or not we are not the only pups swimming in snow! We even got a medal for competing.

The next event is one that Walter entered because Millie (almost) never fetches. Zaphod is hosting the Fetching event in honor of his gotcha day which is today too! Be sure to stop over to see all the competitors and wish Phod a Happy Gotcha Day!

You can't really fetch without someone throwing something first. Thanks for helping Dad.

Thanks for helping Dad.

Almost every time I go outside my dad will play a little fetch with me. We have lots of great toys to choose from and I will fetch whatever dad picks out. Here is my medal for participating. I’m going to share it with my dad since I couldn’t have done it without him.

Please be sure to stop by the hosts for today’s events and thank them for hosting. We sure had a lot of fun competing. Come back tomorrow to see what we are competing in next.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie and Walter here. We don’t know about all of you but we have some routines that we like to stick to almost every day. After everyone has had their dinners we love to do a little wrestling in the living room. Well one day it kind of spilled over into the family room.

First we want to show you what our family room normally looks like.

Family Room furniture in normal position

View of the family room from the living room door

Take particular notice of the location of the ottoman (with the tray on it). Now watch what happened when our living room wrestling spilled into the family room.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

There is more room for wrestling now that the ottoman is out of the way

Please ignore the dust flying in front of the camera and our crazy eyes. Mom was using her phone since it was the closest thing to her at the time.

Sorry about making all that noise while you were trying to watch your show dad. Usually we just run around the ottoman and then back into the living room but this time we just shoved it out of our way and had a great time.

Do any of you ever rearrange the furniture while you are playing?
