Hi everyone! It’s Millie & Walter here. There aren’t many new flowers blooming in our yard so we thought we would show you some of the creatures that are hanging around the garden.

Hey Millie! What is that bug in the grass?
Where?! He better not crawl on me.

Okay. Maybe there isn’t a bug in the grass that is about to crawl on Millie but we found this katydid on a daylily.

Maybe if I hide under here those pups won’t find me.

I’m feeling brave sitting on this daylily bud.

The next thing we want to show you is the cabbage white butterfly. We always have plenty of these butterflies in our yard every year but they are difficult to capture since they are often moving so fast.

This next creature is a first sighting at our house.

Long Tailed Skipper

According to Wikipedia the caterpillar of these butterflies are pests of some crops, especially beans. We think the reason we saw this one is that the crop field just a few hundred yards from our house has beans in it this year. Usually they grow corn but have changed it up this time.

I think we found some interesting creatures to show everyone today.
I’m keeping my eyes out for more of those katydids. Did you see how big those pincers were on that thing?

We hope you enjoyed a look at some of the nature in our yard this week.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie & Walter here. There aren’t many new flowers blooming from last week but we have some beautiful pictures to show you.

Let’s see some beautiful flower pictures.

We call this our “School Bus” Yellow Daylily

Pink daylily with coreopsis background.

Here is a picture of what happens after the flowers bloom on one of our plants.

Don’t the flowers behind me kind of look like Christmas lights?
That’s how you do “Christmas in July”!

We hope you enjoyed a look at some of the nature in our yard this week.

I don’t want to forget to show you the coreopsis I’m posing in front of.

I was doing some more super model posing for this picture. Don’t worry, I always get paid well for my modeling work. I hope you enjoyed a look at what is blooming in our yard this week.

Hi everyone! It’s Cindy here. Summer is near the end and so is the growing season for the flowers in our yard. We still have a few daylilies blooming.

Rose colored daylily

Some of the hosta still have flowers too.

Another late bloomer in our yard is our non-vining clematis.

The various bees around our yard seem to be working overtime collecting pollen.

This little guy was so loaded down with pollen he could barely take off.

Now those are full saddle bags

Next I want to show you some dragonflies.

Lastly I want to show you one of the many leopard frogs we have in our yard.

Leopard frog

There are so many of these frogs in the lawn that when I mow the lawn I have to go very slow around the edge of the grass (where they seem to be the most plentiful) to try not to squash or mow over them. We seem to be having a banner year for leopard frogs in our yard this year. It usually takes me about 2 hours to mow our lawn but since the frogs have appeared it’s taken me about 1/2 hour longer because I’ve had to go much slower. I want to get a bumper sticker for my tractor that says, “I Brake for Frogs”!

I hope you enjoyed this stroll around the garden today.

Hi everyone. It’s Millie and Walter here. The weather has been super hot here most of the summer so it was nice when the weather cooled off long enough for us to get outside to play and let our mom take some flower pictures.

We have lots of perennials and shrubs in bloom right now but we are only going to show you are daylilies today. Let’s get on with the show.

We hope you enjoyed checking out our daylilies that are blooming in our yard right now.

Hi everyone! Today we are joining Dory for her Flower Friday Blog Hop. We are playing catch up this week as we took the past couple of weeks off to be in the Pawlympics.

We showed you many of our daylilies already so here are the rest of them.

The final flower in the perennial garden in bloom now is the Joe Pye weed. It is so tall that it almost falls over from the weight of the flowers.

The rugosa rose is on its second bloom and the bumble bees and other bugs are enjoying the pollen.

The last flowers are on another hydrangea.
