Hi Everybody it’s Millie here!

As you heard we had a ton of snow this past week. I love to bury my head in the snow and sniff around under there.

Since I’m a black dog in a snow storm no editing was needed for these pictures.

Today we would also like to remember one of the hosts of the Black & White Sunday blog hop. The sweet Sugar the Golden Retriever who took her journey to the Rainbow Bridge this week. She was loved by all who met her and will be sadly missed.

I’m participating in the Black & White Sunday blog hop.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie here.

millie-tongue-out-in-the-leaves-lr

This was just a few days ago when I was outside helping dad get the last of the leaves out of our yard. Today it looks like a winter wonderland. We got about 8 inches of snow the past couple of days and boy did I have fun doing zoomies in the white fluffy stuff! The temps are going to be above freezing for the next few days so all the white stuff should melt soon.

I’m sorry we haven’t been around to comment much the past few days. Our grandma had a minor operation (of course nothing is minor when you are in your 80’s) so our mom has been busy helping her and being with her at the hospital the past few days. Don’t worry too much because our grandma is home now and doing well but since she can’t drive for a few weeks our mom will be her taxi and personal shopper for a while.

I heard that we aren’t having a big bird for Thanksgiving but we are having a pork roast with all the usual trimmings so there will be plenty of left overs for us too.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie here.

I’m hanging out under what my dad likes to call…

The Best Seat in the Yard

The Best Seat in the Yard

Our beautiful Katsura tree is looking the best it ever has in fall this year. It’s full of beautiful yellow leaves. We have lots of color in our yard and last week Walter showed you the Japanese maple trees. This week I’ll show some of the other trees and shrubs that are showing some lovely colors.

The Stewartia tree shows off its beautiful orange and yellow leaves.

Sometimes the leaves fall on the rocks our dad “planted” in the garden and that makes a pretty picture too.

I’ll sign off with this picture of our yard. It was just a perfect fall day and Walter and I enjoyed our time outside. I hope you enjoyed seeing our beautiful fall colors. Sadly as of the writing of this post most of the leaves are down. At least we have these beautiful pictures to look back on.

Hi everyone! It’s me Walter.

Walter - Head shot

I can hardly believe that it is my third Gotcha Day today! I had a rough start in life with my brother but thanks to Big Dogs Big Hearts rescue and my foster pawrents Lindsay and Jon I was lucky to find a great forever home.

Pups like Millie & I, who were taken in by rescues, know how special our foster pawrents can be to us. Millie gets to see her foster pawrents when we go visit our rescue at their meet and greets but I hadn’t seen mine since the day I was adopted. Well a few months ago I finally got to see my foster mom Lindsay and boy was it a great reunion.

It all started because mom invited her Crochet and Knit group “Purl Jam” to our house for a holiday celebration just before Christmas. Foster mom Lindsay is a member of the group and mom sent her a special message hoping she could join us. Mom didn’t tell me she was coming so when I heard her voice outside when mom went to greet her I got very excited. We don’t have any photographic evidence of my greeting Lindsay but I just started jumping up and down (kind of like the dog in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZpOghdjZaA) and mom and dad worried that I wasn’t going to stop.

Eventually all the other ladies showed up and after having some snacks they went into the family room to work on their projects.

I was so happy to see Foster Mom Lindsay

Millie behaved herself and mostly laid in the middle of the floor but I just couldn’t get enough of Foster Mom Lindsay.

In between giving Foster Mom Lindsay lots of attention I did take some time to hang out with the other guests.

But I couldn’t stay away for long.

You don't mind if I sit here do you Foster Mom Lindsay?

Needless to say she didn’t get as much done on her project as some of the other ladies did. I think the look on her face says she doesn’t really mind at all.

Eventually I just couldn't keep my eyes open any longer

As you can see I settled down next to Lindsay in her chair and took a little nap.

I love my family but us rescue dogs all know how special our foster pawrents are to us too. If it weren’t for them opening their homes, we might not be in our great forever homes. Thanks Foster Mom Lindsay and Foster Dad Jon for giving me a place to hang out and learn what a loving home could be like while I waited to find my forever home. You made my Gotcha Day possible.

Before I go I have to give a little shout out to another guy celebrating his Gotcha Day too. Happy Gotcha Day Frankie Furter! We sure are a couple of lucky guys.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie and Walter here. We don’t know about all of you but we have some routines that we like to stick to almost every day. After everyone has had their dinners we love to do a little wrestling in the living room. Well one day it kind of spilled over into the family room.

First we want to show you what our family room normally looks like.

Family Room furniture in normal position

Take particular notice of the location of the ottoman (with the tray on it). Now watch what happened when our living room wrestling spilled into the family room.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

Please ignore the dust flying in front of the camera and our crazy eyes. Mom was using her phone since it was the closest thing to her at the time.

Sorry about making all that noise while you were trying to watch your show dad. Usually we just run around the ottoman and then back into the living room but this time we just shoved it out of our way and had a great time.

Do any of you ever rearrange the furniture while you are playing?

Hi everyone! It’s Walter here. Wow did I have some fun recently. When my mom was cleaning out the old TV cabinet she found some toys we had forgotten about. Now you might not remember but Millie doesn’t play with toys so I had lots of fun.

Mom’s friend, Sam, from The Quilting Doberman sent us this toy. She calls it a “slobber ball”.

Walter - working on slobber ball 2

I didn’t worry about slobbering on the ball. I just grabbed that fleece and starting pulling it out the holes.

I’m not sure if you can tell but it is a stuffed ball that is stuffed in a plastic ball that has some holes in it.

Here you can see that I have ripped the blue cover off the ball in the ball.

I took turns between chewing the blue fabric off and pulling the stuffing out of the ball.

It sure made a huge mess in the living room.

Mom’s going to have fun picking up all this mess. BOL!

Thanks for sending me this toy Sam. I sure had a lot of fun with it and mom got her exercise picking up everything off the floor.

Hi everyone. It’s Walter here. With all the packages that came to our house during the holidays there were lots of things in them to keep the contents from rattling around. Mom and dad always let me have the bubble wrap, if there is any, to play with.

Walter - bubble wrap fun 1

Here is a little video to give you an idea of all the fun I have. The video is supposed to be embedded below but at the time of publishing this post it doesn’t seem to be working.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

I just love ripping all that plastic to pieces.

Walter - bubble wrap fun 2

Don’t worry I never eat any of it. The best part is that mom has to clean it all up after I’m done.
