Hi everyone! It’s Mini Millie here to tell you about something that arrived a little while ago.

Mini Millie here to tell you a story

Mini Millie here to tell you a story

A couple of weeks ago we received a package from across the pond! First I gave it a good sniff.

Mini Millie - inspects mail

Then that silly boy Walter came in and decided he needed to check it out too.

What is this?

What is this?

Since neither of us has thumbs we asked mom to help open the package. Inside were two little parcels wrapped in tissue paper.

Look at the cute presents!

Look at the cute presents!

If you look closely you can see that they have labels on them. One says “Walter” and the other says “Chipmunk”! Mom assured me that what was inside wasn’t for Walter to open so she let me do the honors. Look what I found!

It's Mini Walter and Mini Chippie!

OMD they are so cute! Miss Lynne from across the pond made these two mini’s for us. Mom figured that I, Mini Millie, was getting lonely and it was about time we had a Mini Walter but I didn’t expect to see that adorable Mini Chipmunk too.

Big Millie was super excited to meet Mini Chippie.

OMD he is so cute!

He smells good too!

Next it was time for Walter to meet his mini.

The resemblance is remarkable!

Normally Lynne makes squirrels but since we have more chipmunks around here than squirrels we asked her to make ours a chipmunk and she was more than happy to do it.

She did a great job embroidering the chipmunk stripes down his back and gave him a dark colored tail. He is just too cute!

Now check out the details on Mini Walter.

She also did a great job capturing the black overlay he has on much of his fur with some embroidery but she did her best work on his face.

We couldn’t be happier with our two new mini’s. Dad has been thinking up some new adventures just for the mini’s to go on so stay tuned.

Hi everyone it’s Walter here. I need to share some exciting news with you today.

lgthe queen of hearts

I’m hoping to have a date for the big Queen of Hearts Dance that Mayor Madi is hosting and today I’m visiting with Miss Tuiren to get to know her better.

The Lovely Miss Tuiren

The Lovely Miss Tuiren

Last week she was sad because her special friend, that she was hoping to go to the dance with, went to the Rainbow Bridge a while ago and she was afraid she wouldn’t have a date for the dance. After reading a little more about her I think we both have a lot in common. She is a little older than me but only by a few months, not years.

We are having lots of fun together and so far I’m also getting along with her big brother Fenris. Sweet Miss Tui had a rough start to her life but she’s been doing great since ending up in her forever home.  You can read all about my visit with her on her blog here.

If you don’t already know Tuiren please stop by and put in a good word for me. I think there might be a little competition for the date to the dance from a kitty friend of hers too. I sure hope she picks me.

Hi Everyone! Today is my First Birthday! I’ve only been in my forever home for 7 months, and so much has happened since then, but it all started about one year ago. Before I came here I was in another home and then they took me to a place called Rochester Animal Services when I was only 4 months old. The nice people there thought I would be happier with my foster parents so I was moved again. My foster parents are from a group called Big Dogs Big Hearts. I had a lot of fun with them and really love my foster mom and dad.

The first time my parents saw me I was just a little girl and they fell in love right away. Really who wouldn’t.

Next thing I know I got to move again to my forever home. A lot has happened since I came to my new home and if you read back over the past few months on this blog you can learn all about it. Things might have been a little rough for me  before I came here, but I couldn’t be happier with how my first year has finished up.

puppy birthday cake 2

Please join me and eat some of my birthday cake. The weather is supposed to be nice today so I hope you can join Walter and I playing in our fantastic yard.

walter - little dog in big yard

There is lots of room for zoomies, chasing balls and plenty of grass for a good roach. Grab a party hat and let’s play!

As I mentioned in an earlier post my mom and I are walking in a fundraiser for Rochester Animal Services on June 8th. In honor of my birthday my mom will donate $1 for each comment (up to $50) wishing me a happy birthday today. Please only one comment per household. I still want my mom to have money for treats and toys.

You can help out too, by sponsoring me for the walk. I want to thank all my friends that have already donated. My mom recently realized that the online donation system requires a minimum of a $10 donation. We know that this may be more than some of you would like to contribute so if you would like to make a smaller donation just let me know in the comments and I will email you with details of how you can do it.

Thanks for your support and thanks to all my Blogville friends for helping to make my first year great!

Hi everyone it’s Walter here! First I want to thank everyone for the wonderful welcome you all gave me when Millie introduced me to you last week. I thought I would tell you a little more about where I came from and how I got to be Millie’s little brother.

Walter - lying under bench

My brother and I were turned over to the same rescue that Millie came from, Big Dogs Big Hearts, because my first parents couldn’t take care of us very well. They had us both living in a crate together and as we kept getting bigger it was not very fun. I was in pretty bad shape when I was rescued, but my foster mom and dad took great care of me. They also had another dog. It was fun to be able to play with him and not be smushed in a small space with him all the time. My brother is staying with another foster family and still looking for his forever home.

walter and charlie - giving kisses

I sure do love my new parents and I’m pretty sure they love me too.

walter - little dog in big yard

I have the  biggest yard to play in. Can you see me lying under the tree?

millie walter - walking around yard

And the greatest big sister to play with inside and out.

millie walter - wrestle mania - outdoors - millie on top

Sometimes I like to let her think she has the upper paw…

millie walter - wrestle mania - outside - walter on top

but then I remind her that even though I don’t weigh as much as she does I’m pretty tough and can take her down whenever I want.

millie walter - playing tug

Millie and I have lots of fun playing tug of war…

millie walter - playing tug - paw on rope

even if I do trip myself up sometimes. Our favorite place to play inside is the living room since that has the most open space and the rug in there makes a great wrestling mat.

My foster mom told my new parents that in their house I didn’t need to sleep in a crate (although I can spend time in there if I need to) so I have been sleeping in the big bed with the whole family right from the first night!  I just love to snuggle up next to either of my parents and Millie is usually snuggled up to the other one. We have a gate up at the top of the stairs so Millie and I can’t just wander downstairs when mom and dad are asleep.

I may have had a rough start in life, but I know I can look forward to a wonderful rest of my life where I am right now!

Hi everyone, Millie here to tell you about everything that has been going on around here for the past week. Last Saturday we all went to the regular meet and greet for the rescue I came from, Big Dogs Big Hearts. I thought it was just to see my foster parents, but after saying hello to them I met a cute little boy dog named Walter and we hit it off right away.

walter - sweet face

Isn’t he a cutie! They say he is a boxer mix and I think his head shows it well. Right away we started playing and having a great time together. A few days later Walter and his foster mommy came to our house to visit. We played outside for a while and then I showed him the house.

Here we are with Walter’s foster mommy. She is very nice.

millie walter - in kitchen on meeting day

Walter is only about 6 months old (I will be 1 in just a couple of weeks) and that boy has lots of energy.

Today was two days since Walter and his foster mom came to visit us. This morning mom, dad and I went to a local pet store and Walter was there with his foster mommy too! Next thing I know mom was signing a bunch of forms, we went inside the store and bought some food that isn’t my brand and a new toy. After that we got back in the car to go home and Walter got in the car with us!

walter - my new daddy gives good ear scritches

When we got home we all went outside and had a huge play session. I like chasing Walter and trying to herd him. Everyone thinks I’m part Australian Cattle dog so I guess I’m just doing what comes naturally. Mom took a lot of videos, but we will show you those some other day.

walter - kissing charlie

Walter is a pretty lovable guy and likes to give the peeps lots of kisses just like I do.

millie walter - attack of the kissing bandits

It’s fun to gang up on daddy and smother him with kisses.

millie walter - what is that thing under there

Walter has some parts that are different than mine. Mom and dad have never had a boy dog before so if there are any secrets to raising a boy puppy please let them know. Mom said that Walter has had his bobblectomy already, whatever that means.

millie walter - whats charlie eating

So far we are getting along great! Dad thinks we spend just a little too much time playing bitey face and chasing each other around, but I say you can never play too much.

walter - spotty paw

Everyone thinks that when Walter is full grown he and I will be a similar size. Don’t you just love his one speckled paw? After mom and dad ate lunch we all went upstairs and had a little nap (very little nap). Mom said it was nice to see that little Walter could settle down for a while. Right now we (all four of us) are stretched out on our big bed while I dictate this post to mom.

walter - got underbite

Earlier tonight I was kind of wondering when Walter was going back home, but then I realized he was home! It might take a little while getting used to having a little brother, but it sure is fun having someone around to play with besides my dad. I just want to say to Walter, “Welcome home Walter, welcome home!”

Take Two

Okay so some of you may have noticed a post went up that didn’t have much to say and then was deleted. Yes, I did that. I started the post and had set it to be posted, but didn’t finish writing it and then changed the date for it to publish (or so I thought). Imagine my surprise when I saw that it posted! I quickly deleted it since there really wasn’t anything there to see. So now I will tell you all about the Christmas crafting I did for family this year.

You know when your parents get to a certain age that there isn’t much that they need and it is difficult to figure out what to give them as gifts? Well mine are at that stage so I often struggle with gifts for holidays and birthdays for them. For my dad this year I got him car wash coupons (believe me he was thrilled). My mom was a tougher nut to crack so I put my crafty hat on and decided to embellish a couple of t-shirts with machine embroidery for her.

I Heart Quilting Embroidery

You may remember in September when I embellished a couple of t-shirts for the “Tale of Two Cindy’s“, well I didn’t want my mom to feel left out of having her own I ♥ Quilting t-shirt.

I Heart Quilting T-shirt

I decided to not make it identical to the “Cindy” t-shirts by just changing the color of the shirt. I used the same colors for the embroidery but changed the lettering to one of the lighter colors. She was thrilled to get her own I ♥ Quilting t-shirt.

Pointsettia Embroidery on green

My mom loves to wear seasonal clothes so I decided to make her a Christmas/Holiday style t-shirt too. Last year I used the Jacobean Christmas Designs from Embroidery Library to make a holiday t-shirt for me and another one for a friend. I love the designs in this set and chose one with a poinsettia and holly for my mom. Again it was a big hit!

T-shirt with Pointsettia Embroidery

For my next family crafting project I created yet another accessory for my sister’s knitting passion. A couple of years ago for her birthday I made my sister a set of bags and a needle roll to use for her knitting. The following Christmas (last year) I added some large project bags to her kit. Now I had to think of something unique to add to her accessories and I had just the thing in mind.

Knitting needle caddy - Exterior

From the minute I saw this adorable Knitting Tweet embroidery I knew I wanted to put it on something for my sister and I finally had just the right thing.

Knitting needle caddy - Front pages

I know I already made her a roll up case to keep her needles in, but I wanted to give her a fancier one. I’ve already made a couple of similar cases for crochet hooks. One was for Madi’s mom and the other one is mine, but I haven’t written about them.

Knitting needle caddy - Middle pages

I modified the crochet hook caddy by making it taller and the slots I created for the knitting needles vary in size. The first “page” has skinnier slots and two zippered pockets. The next two pages have only three slots on the left and two slots on the right.

Knitting needle caddy - back pages

The final pages have full-page pockets on the left and two slots on the right. Since the case is so tall I created two sets of pockets for each page. That way there is room to put tall needles and shorter or circular needles.

Knitting needle caddy - zipper side

I also put a double-sided zipper that opens on three sides. Well I am happy to say that she was very pleased and has been rounding up her needles to fill it up.

Millie also wanted to send some gifts to her canine and feline cousins. My sister brought home a new puppy when she and the family were visiting down south for Christmas and Millie wanted to give Rolo a proper welcome.

Rolo with bone

She really liked the fleece bone we sent and by the looks of it she also likes to play with someones gloves.

Rolo with cat toys

Rolo also thought it would be fun to check out the kitty toys we sent. Fortunately the kitties have also been playing with their new toys too.

I love putting my heart into gifts for family and friends and overall I think the Christmas crafting was a big success.
