Hi everyone! It’s Millie and Walter here. First we have to apologize to Rosy and Lady Shasta for taking so long to do this post. We of course are blaming our mom for dragging her feet.

Look at these pressie packages!

Millie’s pressie package arrived first so we will show you that one first.

I have to help get it out of the box.

Thanks for these great pressies Rosy!

Everything was in that cute burlap bag and there was even a magnet for our mom’s car. She will put it on sometime after she washes it the next time.

Here is a video of us opening the pressie package and our first reactions to the pressies.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

Thanks Rosy. You sure know how to shop for a gal.

Now it’s time to show you what Walter got from Lady Shasta.

It took some work but I finally got this bag open.

There were four wrapped packages inside.

All of these smell good.
Can I help you open anything?

I’ll open this one for you Walter.

Look at all the great pressies Walter got.

Here is a video of the action to get Walter’s pressie package open and our reaction to what was inside.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

Thanks Lady Shasta. You sure know how to shop for a guy.

I spent most of my time playing with the gator toy and we put the treats right in our cookie jar. I will wait to use those tennis balls until the winter is over. I wouldn’t want to loose them in the snow. Mom wouldn’t let us eat the two big cookies right away but we did try them a couple of days later and boy were they tasty.

Well that is what we got from the Blogville Christmas Gift Exchange. We want to thank Oreo and his mom for coordinating it and of course a big thanks to Rosy and Lady Shasta for being such great shoppers.

Save Those Stamps IconHi everyone it’s Millie & Walter here! Do you remember last year when we asked everyone to save your stamps and send them to us? Well, we are doing it again this year. We have already received a few cards from our Blogville friends so we’re sure some of you have too.

Did you know that the stamps that come with all those cards can help the Retired Greyhound Trust across the pond? Yes they can! So we are asking you to Save Those Stamps! and send them to us.

This is the pile of stamps we ended up with last year from about 30 friends.

Millie Walter - with stamp pile

We will be collecting stamps to send to the Retired Greyhound Trust (RGT) in the UK. Every kilogram (about 2.2 lbs.) of used stamps collected can be sold in aid of the RGT. Their target is £1,500 ($2345 USD) which is the cost of kenneling a dog for a year.

If you are on Oreo’s mailing list then you should already have our home address. If not then just leave us a comment asking for the mailing address and we will email it to you. Save up all your stamps and after the holidays just put them in an envelope and send them to us (make sure you have enough postage in case it weighs more than one ounce).

If it is easier for you to send your stamps directly to RGT their address is:

Retired Greyhound Trust
2nd Floor
Park House
1-4 Park Terrace
Worcester Park
SURREY
KT4 7JZ
UNITED KINGDOM

Lets shower those retired greyhounds with a ton of stamps…well okay a ton would be a bit too expensive to send but wouldn’t it be great if we had 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) to send them? Please feel free to grab the Save Those Stamps! icon above and promote it on your blog by linking back to this post or our permanent Save Those Stamps page.

Thanks, in advance, to all of you for making this so successful.

Save Those Stamps IconHi everyone! Do you remember, back around the end of the year holidays, when I asked everyone to save your stamps and send them to me? I waited a while to make sure everyone that was planning on sending me their stamps had enough time to do so and was overwhelmed by the response.

stamps - envelopes - notes - etc

Wow! Just look at everything I received. In addition to the stamps there were numerous cards and notes. There even were a couple of dollars and some unused US stamps from a Canadian friend. After I sorted through all the stamps I took the time to remove all the stamps on all the envelopes too.

Unique stamps from the United States

Most of the stamps were the usual holiday or general use United States stamps but as I was sorting through the stamps I pulled out a few of the unique ones.

interesting Australian stamps

Australian Stamps

Thanks to The Cowspotdogs, whose mom is from Australia, there were a lot of stamps from down under.

Interesting International Stamps

Interesting International Stamps

There were even a few interesting stamps from around the globe. I had fun perusing all the different stamps that you sent and couldn’t believe how many stamps there were.

Full stamp pile

In all the stamps weighed in at 12¼ ounces (about 346 grams).

Millie Walter - with stamp pile

Of course I couldn’t ship off the stamps before making Millie and Walter pose with them. Don’t they look thrilled?

Do you need me to lick any of these stamps mom?

Do you need me to lick any of these stamps mom?

I stuffed all the stamps into a gallon zip bag.

All these stamps are going to help our greyhounds in the UK?

All these stamps are going to help greyhounds in the UK?

The stamps were shipped using US First Class International postage which still allows for tracking. I included a note to let the RGT know where all the stamps came from. Here is what I said:

Dear Retired Greyhound Trust,

Enclosed please find stamps collected by me and about 30 blogging friends and family. Most of these stamps were collected during the December 2014 holiday season. A large group of pet bloggers participate in a holiday card exchange. In the past one of our members had asked us to save our stamps and send them to her so she could send them to your organization. That particular blogger doesn’t blog any longer so I decided to pick up where she left off.

The majority of those participating write a pet related blog so they were more than happy to help a pet related cause such as yours. I promoted the cause on my blog and some of the other participants promoted it on their blog as well. I plan on encouraging my fellow bloggers to save their stamps year round. We know it is a small gesture but we all know that every little bit helps.

As you can see from my note there were about 30 different participants in the stamp collection.

The package was mailed on May 2nd and I was surprised to see that it was delivered in just 5 days!

Thank You Letter from Retired Greyhound Trust

Thank You Letter from Retired Greyhound Trust

Just this weekend I received a thank you note so I know they received them. I’m sure they appreciated receiving all our stamps. Thanks to everyone who participated. I think that some of our UK and European bloggers sent their stamps directly to the RGT so thanks to all of you too.

I want to let you know that you can save your stamps all year round. I already have my collection started to send next year. If you don’t want to wait you can feel free to send me your stamps any time of the year. I created a permanent page on my blog with all the information you need to participate.

Thanks again to all of you for making this so successful.

Hi everyone it’s Walter here! I wanted to give you an update on the Christmas Card count so far this year.

Walter models with the Christmas Cards

Walter models with the Christmas Cards

As you can see we are doing pretty good with all the cards we have received from all our friends. So far here are the totals:

Millie & Walter

29 Snail Mail cards

20 e-cards

Total Card Count – 49

Mom & Dad

10 6

Card Count Board

Here is the white board that mom keeps the card count on. Notice those question marks? Well those are there to indicate some very questionable cards. Let me explain. First let me show you exhibit A

Exhibit A - Card from Dell computers

Exhibit A – Card from Dell computers

Now I will show exhibit B.

Cornell Jewelers Christmas Card

Exhibit B – Cornell’s Jewelers Christmas Card

I don’t care how pretty a card is if it contains coupons to be used for your next purchase it does not count in the Christmas Card tally. Our pawrents have actually received a few legitimate cards from friends and family and a few of our furiends addressed the card to both Millie & I and our pawrents so we agreed to split those cards (hence the 1/2 cards in the counts). Our dad also tried to count an e-card he got from the auto repair shop but we said that was no good.

Can you pick out your card?

Can you pick out your card?

The bottom line is as usual we are kicking butt on our pawrents. We just love all the cards we have received either in the mail or by email and thank all our furiends for sending them to us. We love how pretty all the cards are and enjoy seeing all our furiends on them too.

Don’t forget to Save Those Stamps!

Hi everyone! It’s Mini Millie here to tell you about something that arrived a little while ago.

Mini Millie here to tell you a story

Mini Millie here to tell you a story

A couple of weeks ago we received a package from across the pond! First I gave it a good sniff.

Mini Millie - inspects mail

Then that silly boy Walter came in and decided he needed to check it out too.

What is this?

What is this?

Since neither of us has thumbs we asked mom to help open the package. Inside were two little parcels wrapped in tissue paper.

Look at the cute presents!

Look at the cute presents!

If you look closely you can see that they have labels on them. One says “Walter” and the other says “Chipmunk”! Mom assured me that what was inside wasn’t for Walter to open so she let me do the honors. Look what I found!

It's Mini Walter and Mini Chippie!

It’s Mini Walter and Mini Chippie!

OMD they are so cute! Miss Lynne from across the pond made these two mini’s for us. Mom figured that I, Mini Millie, was getting lonely and it was about time we had a Mini Walter but I didn’t expect to see that adorable Mini Chipmunk too.

Big Millie was super excited to meet Mini Chippie.

OMD he is so cute!

He smells good too!

Next it was time for Walter to meet his mini.

The resemblance is remarkable!

Normally Lynne makes squirrels but since we have more chipmunks around here than squirrels we asked her to make ours a chipmunk and she was more than happy to do it.

She did a great job embroidering the chipmunk stripes down his back and gave him a dark colored tail. He is just too cute!

Now check out the details on Mini Walter.

Look how she made his spotty white chest and left leg.

She also did a great job capturing the black overlay he has on much of his fur with some embroidery but she did her best work on his face.

We couldn’t be happier with our two new mini’s. Dad has been thinking up some new adventures just for the mini’s to go on so stay tuned.

Thank you Lynne for doing such a great job with our new mini-me’s. If you want a mini-me of yourself just visit Lynne’s website for information on how to get your own. You won’t be disappointed.

Hi everyone it’s Walter here. I need to share some exciting news with you today.

lgthe queen of hearts

I’m hoping to have a date for the big Queen of Hearts Dance that Mayor Madi is hosting and today I’m visiting with Miss Tuiren to get to know her better.

The Lovely Miss Tuiren

The Lovely Miss Tuiren

Last week she was sad because her special friend, that she was hoping to go to the dance with, went to the Rainbow Bridge a while ago and she was afraid she wouldn’t have a date for the dance. After reading a little more about her I think we both have a lot in common. She is a little older than me but only by a few months, not years.

Walter & Tuiren hanging out together

Walter & Tuiren hanging out together

We are having lots of fun together and so far I’m also getting along with her big brother Fenris. Sweet Miss Tui had a rough start to her life but she’s been doing great since ending up in her forever home.  You can read all about my visit with her on her blog here.

If you don’t already know Tuiren please stop by and put in a good word for me. I think there might be a little competition for the date to the dance from a kitty friend of hers too. I sure hope she picks me.

Hi everyone it’s Millie here! I have to tell you about an amazing surprise we all got last week. Mom said she wasn’t expecting any packages so when the mailman drove up the driveway and dropped something off we had no idea what it was.

Pressie box - from DWM

It was addressed to Walter and I and if you don’t recognize the last name on the return address you wouldn’t know that it was a pressie package from the Dachsies With Moxie! We couldn’t wait for mom to get that box open.

millie - sniffing pressies in box

Everything was well wrapped so I had to do some digging to get at the pressies. With some help from mom all was revealed.

millie - checking out pressies in box

There were three great toys in there!  A giant tennis ball, a green dog with extra rope on the side of his head and a cool red and blue toy that looked like it was the same shape as a dachshund! The big envelope was some embroidery stuff for mom {boring!}. There was also this great letter from our cousins Tasha, Chip and Snoopy.

pressie note - from DWM

The timing of the pressies couldn’t be better since my birthday was only a few days away. I decided that since the note said it was to welcome us to the family that I should probably share them with Walter too.

millie walter - playing with pressies

We took them up to the bedroom for a complete inspection and test drive.

walter - playing with green toy

Walter really liked the green one…

millie - playing with red toy and ball

and I liked the red one and the ball. Mom and dad won’t let us play with any stuffed toys without supervision since we have a tendency to rip them apart, but the ball is one of our permanent outdoor toys. Something about it being too bouncy for inside the house and knocking things over. We have a great time chasing the ball and playing keep away with it and I make sure to tell mom or dad to get out the stuffies so we can play with them often.

I just want to say a great big THANK YOU to the Dachsies With Moxie for this fantastic surprise. If you don’t already know them you should hop over to their blog and say hello.
