Hi everyone! It’s Walter here again. Sorry we haven’t been posting much but since my surgery we’ve been keeping things pretty quiet to make sure I healed properly. Today I saw our vet for a post op check up and she thought everything is looking good.

My new portrait has a permanent snaggletooth.

The vet said she could still see some sutures that haven’t dissolved completely so Millie & I are still restricted from any wrestling and bitey face but I can go back to eating my normal kibble. As you can see from the picture above my lower canine tooth now likes to hang outside my upper lip but hopefully that won’t be a problem later too. I’m thankful that all that vet stuff should be behind me for a while. All of the support from my Blogville friends has helped too.

Mom finally got our decorations up and we are starting to get some cards in. So far we are kicking butt on the card count with our pawrents.

Most of these cards are for Millie & I

The current card count is:

Millie & Walter

6 Snail Mail cards

5 e-cards

Total Card Count – 11

Mom & Dad

2 cards

We do have a bit of a mystery that my mom thinks she has figured out. We received a card with no return address and the signature didn’t have any names on it.

The inside of our mystery card. Who could those portraits be of?

The only other clue we had was the post office cancellation. After some Googling our mom figured out that the card was mailed in northern Virginia. The only problem with that is we don’t have anybody on our list from that area. After reading some of our friends blogs recently our mom says a light bulb went on in her head when she remembered that the Downunder Daisy crew’s mom had recently been on vacation visiting family in Virginia. She probably wanted to save some time (for delivery) and some money by posting them while she was here. We definitely think one of the portraits drawn on the card looked like a Scottie and now we think the other dog pictured is Roxy. So we are asking what you think or if Bella, Roxy and Dui can confirm our suspicions.

We sure are thankful for all our friends that send us cards by mail and email. It’s especially nice to get some from our pals that haven’t been blogging recently too.

Hi everyone! It’s Walter here. Happy Thanksgiving to all my friends in the USA. I sure do have a lot to be thankful for today. First of all I’m thankful to all my friends for all the Power of the Paw and prayers everyone sent me during my big day at the vet yesterday. Let me tell you about it.

This is not my regular vet.

It all started when my mom’s alarm went off earlier than it ever has. By 6 am we were on the road. It was a long drive and I mostly slept until the sun came up. When we stopped we were at Animal Dental Specialists of Upstate New York.

While we were in the waiting room a couple of the vet techs came out to meet me. They were all very nice.

Don’t I look great in this special bandana?

Once we were in the exam room Laura the vet tech gave mom a bandana to put on me that was sprayed with Adaptil. It’s supposed to help dogs feel “calm and relaxed in stressful situations”. I’m not sure how well it worked because I was still a bit nervous about being there.

Next the vet, Dr. Davis, came in and he got right on the floor and greeted me. I gave him lots of kisses and he thought I was very nice and soft.

These are not the kind of pictures mom and dad take.

After getting to know Dr. Davis he put a glove on one of his hands and then he put some peanut butter on the glove. I didn’t mind too much that he was sticking his fingers in my mouth to look at my teeth because that peanut butter tasted good.

The peanut butter fingers tasted good.

Dr. Davis took pictures of all my teeth. Then he put the pictures on the computer and showed my mom what he planned on doing to them.

We all had a laugh after they were done taking pictures.

The plan was to remove the teeth where the lump, that I had removed earlier, was but Dr. Davis was also concerned with how some of my other upper front teeth were effecting my mouth because of my underbite. He went off to work up the estimate and mom and I waited in the exam room some more.

Mom took this selfie of us sitting on the exam room bench.

Before long Laura the vet tech came back and she and mom discussed the estimate. Mom signed some papers, gave me some hugs and kisses and promised she would see me before I knew it. Laura took me in the back and mom headed out. I have to admit that I was a bit worried about being left there but Laura treated me very well.

Laura gave me lots of cuddles while she was taking my blood pressure.

It wasn’t long after the picture above was taken that I started to feel sleepy. I slept for a long time and when I woke up my mouth felt funny. The vet stole 5 teeth from me. Three where the lump was and two that were causing sores from where they hit my mouth. It took me a long time to wake all the way up and shortly after that my mom came and got me. By the time we left the vet it was dark again. I was still a bit woozy from the operation so I slept all the way home.

It was great to finally get home and see dad and Millie.

I felt better this morning.

After a good nights sleep I was feeling a bit better but I noticed a few things missing from my mouth. I think my missing upper teeth are causing me to have more of a snaggletooth look. I hope my sweetie Tuiren doesn’t mind the new look to my smile. Well as you can see I’m thankful that everything turned out well yesterday and I’m thankful for the pain medicine I’m taking too. Mom says she wants to say a few words now.

Hi everyone. I want to say how thankful I am for everyone who was thinking of Walter and I yesterday. While he was at the vet I was trying to relax in a nearby hotel.

My accommodations for the day.

I was lucky that there was a local hotel, the Craftsman Inn, just down the road from the vet. A few weeks ago when I knew what the date of Walter’s appointment was I called them and explained that I was looking for a place to stay while my dog was having surgery. The problem was that I wanted to be able to check in around 9 am instead of the usual check in time of 3 pm. After conferring with a manager they said they would be able to accommodate me. Of course I still had to pay a full nights room fee even though I actually checked out at 4:30 pm.

I was glad I had someplace to try to relax for the day. I spent some time reading blogs and doing a bit of crochet and after I knew what time I could pick Walter up I tried to rest for the ride home. That ride home was a bit nerve wracking as it was raining and the high winds that were predicted had started to whip. I can’t imagine what I would have done with myself without a place to stay for the day.

That’s about all from mom. Well as you can see mom and I are both thankful for lots of things but mostly we are thankful for our family and friends that were thinking of us and helped us get through the day. We are also thankful for the wonderful staff at the vet hospital who took such good care of me.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie and Walter here. Today is a day we both have something to be thankful for.

I remember my first day on this patio.

That’s right, today is my Gotcha Day! I wasn’t sure about my new home at first but after a little while I settled down and was happy to be here.

I love my forever home.

It’s been seven years since I first came to my forever home but it seems like it was yesterday. There is something else that I’m thankful happened seven years ago today too (well, really it is an approximation).

I can’t believe I’m 7 years young!

We don’t really know when my birthday is but it is close to today so we figured it would be fun to celebrate our special days together.

I’m looking forward to my next seven years.

So far we don’t have any news from the vet about my biopsy but we are hopeful that I will have another 7 years to come. We will let you know as soon as we have any news but in the mean time I could use all the POTP you could offer.

We want to thank our friends Dalton, Benji & Pipo and their Petcretary for these great cards they sent us.

Hi everyone! It’s Cindy here. Things have been a little quiet here for the past few weeks but there is a reason for it. I’ve been working on a quilt in order to get it ready for my quilt clubs big show the Genesee Valley QuiltFest. The quilt show starts tomorrow and runs through Sunday and tonight there was a members reception where they gave out the awards.

There are two types of ribbons that are given out. One set is for professionally judged quilts and the other set is for those judged by a group of quilt club members. I only have two quilts in this show and did not submit either one for professional judging.

I arrived at the reception a little late and they had already started giving out the “club” awards. Just a few minutes after I got to the reception area I was hearing the name of my small quilt and my name read aloud for a second place ribbon!

Listening Through the Glass

This quilt is about 48 inches x 24 inches and was made to put up in our living room. There is a lot to tell about how the quilt came together but I will leave that for another day. I didn’t expect to win any awards but I’m very thankful I did.

Hi everyone! It’s Cindy here. Today I’m thankful that I have a new camera too. It’s the same kind that Charlie recently purchased, a FujiFilm X-T3. I also picked up the XF 100-400mm lens. (Remember you can click on any of the images to see a bigger version.)

My handsome boy Walter

My sweet Millie

A few years ago I switched from a Nikon to an Olympus camera that allowed me to take videos of the dogs. What the Olympus didn’t have was a great ability to do bird photography and I realized that I missed taking pictures of our feathered friends.

A male Oriole hanging out in our yard.

I’ve been inspired by Maggie & Cammie’s mom’s beautiful bird pictures and just knew I wanted to do it again.

Mr. Bluebird is aglow in the evening sun

Another male oriole in the yard

To be honest the old Nikon was very heavy, especially with the long lens needed to do bird photography. The new FujiFilm camera and lens is much lighter and with all the advancements made over the past decade you get a better image too.

Don’t you love my underbite?

Do you have any treats for me mom?

There is also an advantage to using a long lens when photographing the dogs. Most of the time you are so far away they hardly know you are taking their picture.

I’m thankful for my new camera and hope to bring you many great pictures and videos.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie and Walter here.

We love to snuggle together in this corner

We’re thankful that we’ve had a few days where the sun came out and warmed our favorite corner in the house. If the sun is out you always find Millie laying here. She likes to sit up and look out the window but after a while will contentedly crash.

I have to squeeze into here after Millie lays down

As you can see it’s a tight fit for both of us.

This time the bed is mine

Sometimes there isn’t room for two on the bed but Walter makes do with whatever he can manage.

I really prefer to have my bed all to myself

To be honest Millie isn’t always happy to have Walter squeeze in with her. If she doesn’t like where he lays she will get up and walk away. That usually causes him to follow so Millie will go back to her corner and settle in by herself.

We’re thankful to have such a warm corner of the house to hang out in and we really are thankful that we can do it together too.
