Hi everyone. It’s Cindy here. Mother Nature must be confused about what time of year it is. While most of my Blogville friends have been posting pictures of leafed out trees and flowers popping from the ground we are stuck with snow.
My mom (who lives near me) has been spending the past few weeks with her brother in Arizona so I thought I would send her a postcard.
The real irony of the above picture is the contrast between what is outside and the picture on the calendar to the right of the sliding door. Let me zoom in on the calendar for you.
What a lovely picture of a dog laying next to a spring blooming shrub. It will be over a month before we could attempt to recreate that picture. It snowed off and on all day yesterday and the high temperature for the next few days will be in the 30’s about 20 degrees below average.
Now I thought I would brighten up this post with a couple pictures my mom took of the cacti blooming in Arizona.
Those are pretty flowers. I hope in a few weeks I will be able to show you some of our own flower pictures.
We are joining Rosy for this weeks Flower Friday. Stop by her blog to see what other blogs are doing. They probably have flowers of their own to show.
P.S. To Mom: I hope you don’t mind that I stole a couple of your pictures. Make sure you dress for cold weather when you come home next week.
oh we never had a cactus flower although the mama hoped to get one efurry year…. just the carrion flower flowered and we pondered about staying in a howltel…
Love both versions and (I know, I’m in the minority this time of year) actually would be thrilled for the reality version here. Spring snow is my favorite and we so desperately need the moisture. Stay warm this weekend!
OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYY Cats!!!
That is a lot of snow for April 5 and very cold temperatures. Lets hope and purr old man winter is finished giving sucker punches to our friends in the Northern US of A. Are those pear cacti. For many years my mother in law had one in her yard that was a cutting off her Mother’s. It was very very old.
Warm Hugs Cecilia
You have 4 days to get spring on track. Thanks for posting& I’ll try to get myself geared for your spring, but want at least 50’s. Loved the post. Yesterday it hit 90. Goes down to 50’s.
The cacti are just beautiful — and we say this as snow is falling here but it’s not sticking, thank goodness!
Wow! Your snow season is really dragging out. I got a freak snow storm on Sunday, but nothing that stuck like that! Sam
Seems like Mother Nature is playing a dirty trick on a bunch of the country this “Spring”! Hope things warm up soon!

Wow, snow might be OK in the WINTER, but it’s spring now it should be long gone. We like the cacti in Arizona and the much warmer weather they have there. And the calendar picture is pawesome.
No sign of spring here either. We don’t have the snow, but still lots of brown and not much green. It will get here sooner or later (hopefully)
Wow! We’ve sure had a crazy few days with this weather! We just have to hang in there for a couple more weeks. Then it will suddenly be summer!
The pictures of the cactus flowers were really pretty, and a nice contrast to our dismal days in WNY!
Wowsers! I guess we can’t complain about the rain! We hope your flowers show up soon š
the critters in the cottage xo
How nice of you to send your Mom a postcard:) The weather is insane here too. It is below freezing now, it was 65 yesterday, snow coming Sunday, and temps up to 80 by Thursday???? No wonder the flowers here are confused.
Woos – Lightning, Misty,and Timber
The weather just keeps getting stranger.

Yes, the calendar picture looks a little bit more inviting, than the picture outside your window! Happy Spring!
