Hi everyone! It’s Millie here. Many of you have been showing us pictures of spring popping up all around your homes but around here we still have snow on the ground.

What’s under there?
I don’t know but I’m going to try to find out.

Walter and I love to wander around our yard and try to sniff out what is under the snow.

There might be a mouse under here.

One of my favorite things to do in the snow is make donuts. What’s a snow donut you ask? Let me show you.

I love making snow donuts.

Do you see that circle in the above picture? I make it kind of like how a Nascar racer does when he wins a race and spins in a circle on the track.

Watch this video to see how it is all done.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

That was great!

Look what you did to the snow!
You should give it a try.

I can smell Millie all over the snow.

It may be difficult to see but here is what was left after I made my snow donut.

Did an alien make this circle in the snow?

One of the important things is to make sure you leave a little pile of snow in the middle of the snow ring. Mom and dad say making a snow donut is kind of like taking a snow bath. I let the snow work down into my coat and then shake it out when I’m done. Do any of you want to come up here and let me show you how to make a snow donut? Come on…it will be a blast!

Hi everyone. It’s Millie here. As you might remember last Friday we were waiting for Winter Storm Harper to hit our area and boy did it ever!

I wonder what is hiding under the snow.

The snow started around mid day on Saturday and didn’t stop until this afternoon! The first 24 hours were from the storm and the last 24 hours were from lake effect. My mom estimates that we got around 24 to 30 inches (61 to 76 cm).

I like going off trail!

It was quite windy so there are some areas that are up to our mom’s thigh. Of course she is only 5’2″ tall but that is still deep.

I think I hit a dead end.

Walter and I haven’t been able to play in the snow much because the other factor to this storm has been the cold temps we’ve been having. Our high temps haven’t gotten over 15° F (-10° C) with wind chills below zero and late at night or early morning it’s been in the single digits.

That snow is deep and it’s cold out here!

Here is a little action video of us today. Don’t be fooled by the brief amount of sunshine you see. It only lasted for a few seconds and it was snowing right through it (that’s the fun of lake effect snow).

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

On those really cold mornings our mom puts booties on us so we can be out long enough to get all our “business” taken care of without hurting our paws. You should see how many layers of clothes our mom has to wear. BOL!

We were getting spoiled with a fairly warm and snow free winter for the past month but Mother Nature is making up for lost time.

No birds are bathing here.

Some of this snow should disappear in a few days as the forecast for Wednesday calls for temperatures in the low 40’s F (5°C) and some rain.

Well I just wanted to let you know that we survived the storm and can’t wait for the temps to warm up a little so we can get out and have fun in the snow. Stay warm friends.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie and Walter here. There’s been a heat wave hitting much of our country and our friends in Canada too. Because of it we haven’t been able to play outside for much at all so this is how we are beating the heat.

I like to make sure my ear is properly cooled.

As you can see I like to take full advantage of all the cool air blowing out of our vents with the AC on. It’s not as soft as a pillow but it kept me cool.

I don’t need an air vent to keep me cool.

Millie is a heat worshiper so she doesn’t need to lay against a vent to keep cool. When we do go outside she likes to just lay in the sun and roll around on the grass. What a silly girl. She is almost like a solar panel always trying to charge her batteries.

The high temp yesterday. Today’s high so far is 98°!

For our foreign friends 97° F is equal to 36° C. If you add in the humidity the “feels like” temp yesterday was over 100° F. We sure will be happy when this heat wave is over and hope all our friends are finding ways to keep cool too.

Hi everyone. It’s Millie here. We’ve seen on some of our friends blogs that spring has sprung in their neck of the woods. Well around here Mother Nature hasn’t gotten the message yet.

Sniffing for something under the snow.

We had a slight break in February with no snow but for the past few weeks our yard has been covered in snow. Of course neither Walter or I are complaining. As a matter of fact we love it and can’t wait to get out to play every day.

There’s nothing like a good roll in the snow

One of my favorite things to do is find a nice spot that hasn’t yet been trampled and take a snow bath. You don’t know what a snow bath is? Let me show you.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

Please excuse the loud footsteps. The snow is soft and a few inches deep so it makes a loud noise whenever my mom the camera person takes a step.

The snow in the perennial garden was nice and deep

I pushed myself around in a circle leaving a mound in the middle.

After Walter interrupted me in the perennial garden I had to find a new place to finish my bath.

You really have to get your head in the snow for the best results

I feel refreshed now

I also want to apologize for the lighting not being very good. That’s the problem with being a black dog on a bright sunny day with snow on the ground.

The calendar might say spring arrives tomorrow but we are still stuck in below normal temps and tonight’s low will be in the teens! We hope we can get a few more days of snow fun before it’s all gone for the season.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie here. The weather so far this winter has been miserably cold especially in the mornings when it has been in the single digits (degrees F). When it’s that cold neither of us can stay outside for more than a couple of minutes without trying to levitate and not walk in the snow. There is one way to make that better.

I really don’t like these booties.

In order to give us enough time to do our business we get fleece booties put on our feet. I think most of you would agree wearing booties is no fun. Here is a little video of how much I hate wearing these things.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

The funny thing is that once I get outside in the snow it’s like I don’t have any booties on and can walk and run around normally. Why is that?

BTW I have such tiny feet that my mom custom made my booties to fit me. We were so happy that the temps this afternoon were in the 20’s and we got to have some play time in the snow. We have about a foot of it on the ground right now. That was lots of fun.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie here.

There is nothing I like better than laying in the grass in my back yard. Most of the time when my mom or dad lets me out to “do my business” I just go lay down in the grass. It doesn’t matter if it is 50° F or 90° F or if I’m in the sun or the shade.

Here is a little action video of what I like to do when laying in the grass.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to see it.

It seems that my rolling in the grass may have caused some mischief with one of my ears. Last week I started shaking my head and my mom took me to the vet. The vet was very nice and cleaned my ear out real good but she said I do have a yeast infection in my right ear. Unfortunately that means I have to get drops in that ear twice a day for 10 days! I’m not too happy about getting those drops but I haven’t been as itchy as I was before going to the vet.

I guess sometimes you have to take the good with the bad because I will never stop rolling in the grass.

Hi everyone, it’s Millie & Walter here. We’re not really sure what is happening around here but our pawrents are up to something. The past couple of weeks they have been taking stuff out of the kitchen and putting them in boxes in the living room.

Then they moved the furniture around in the dining room and put more stuff in there.

We also overheard them saying something about there being lots of noise in the house and how we probably won’t like it very much.

Here is what our kitchen looks like now.

There used to be a table at the far end of the room and a china cabinet against the tall wall on the left.

The microwave is in the dining room now and all the other stuff that used to be on the counters is in there too. We hope our pawrents can find our treat jars in all that mess.

All this is why we are declaring our pawrents up to lots of mischief. We will keep you posted on what we find out. All this mischief is also why our blog visits and commenting has been a little off lately. We hope we can get our secretary to do a better job in the future.

Hi everyone! It’s Millie and Walter here. We don’t know about all of you but we have some routines that we like to stick to almost every day. After everyone has had their dinners we love to do a little wrestling in the living room. Well one day it kind of spilled over into the family room.

First we want to show you what our family room normally looks like.

Family Room furniture in normal position

View of the family room from the living room door

View of family room from back of room

Take particular notice of the location of the ottoman (with the tray on it). Now watch what happened when our living room wrestling spilled into the family room.

If you can’t see the video you can go here to view it.

There is more room for wrestling now that the ottoman is out of the way

Please ignore the dust flying in front of the camera and our crazy eyes. Mom was using her phone since it was the closest thing to her at the time.

Sorry about making all that noise while you were trying to watch your show dad. Usually we just run around the ottoman and then back into the living room but this time we just shoved it out of our way and had a great time.

Do any of you ever rearrange the furniture while you are playing?
