Hi everyone it’s Cindy here. Today we are joining Dory with a Flower Friday post.

DorysFlowerFridayBadgeOur perennial garden is looking fabulous right now with lots of different things in bloom so I thought I would just share some overall pictures today. This garden is only about 15 feet from the back windows of the house and can be seen from every room. I love walking by a window and looking out to admire all the beauty. We used to have a large ornamental grass in the sunny end but with the polar vortex cold we had this winter it didn’t make it.

It was a lot of work to remove such a huge grass but Charlie managed. He replaced it with about 10 perennials and added about 7 more perennials in areas where other plants didn’t come back. The picture below is almost the same shot as the one above. We enjoyed the grass but really love the addition of more flowers and the ability to see more of the garden from the house.

I hope you enjoyed the views of our perennial garden today. I will show you more of the flowers close up in an upcoming post. All our day lilies are in bloom and are just gorgeous.

Hi everyone it’s Cindy here. First I want to say that I checked the ingredients of all the ice cream in our freezer and non of it contained Xylitol. Thanks for the heads up on that even though like Frankie noted I didn’t leave a lot for Walter to lick.

Now I want to tell you a little about how Walter greets people. We admit that his manners need a little more work but so far Walter hasn’t met anyone he hasn’t liked. On Saturday evening I had a friend come over for dinner that I haven’t seen for a long time and Millie & Walter had never met. We were supposed to go to an outdoor concert later but rain cancelled those plans.

My friend Maggie and I used to work together at our local humane society. Maggie has owned many dogs of all types and sizes and is excellent when greeting dogs she has never met. Her calm gentle demeanor endears any dog to her. Shortly after she entered the house Maggie sat down in one of the kitchen chairs. Walter did his usual greeting where he puts his front paws on your lap (okay I have to admit that I do allow him to do this with me every day so he doesn’t really know any better – I love my Walter hugs). He kept trying to give Maggie kisses so she decided she would help him and this was the result.

Hello Maggie! It's nice to meet you!

Hello Maggie! It’s nice to meet you!

I didn’t have the camera handy at first but Charlie ran to get it and this was what we caught. Maggie had hoisted his butt onto her lap and the two enjoyed a wonderful snuggle. As you can see everyone had smiles on their faces. Walter might be a bit much for some people but I knew Maggie didn’t mind and just embraced Walter’s enthusiastic way of saying hello.

Since the concert was rained out we just enjoyed a lovely evening of catching up and the pups enjoyed getting to know Maggie too. I have to say Walter sure is one happy pup that loves to meet new people and does it with lots of passion.

I everyone it’s Walter here again. Today I want to share one of my daily rituals I have with my mom. After she finishes her lunch she likes to have one of these for dessert.

WW English Toffee Crunch

A most delicious ice cream on a stick! I make sure to be close at hand and start drooling profusely. That way when she is almost done and she wants to turn off my water works this is my reward.

Walter - licking ice cream stick

Here is a little live action video so you can see my enthusiasm at my job. Notice the sound my tongue makes as I work to eliminate every molecule of ice cream from that stick.

If you can’t see the video or want a larger view you can go here to watch the video.

Oh yum! I also like to make sure I clean my teeth after I ‘m done by chewing on the stick…sort of like using a toothpick only bigger.

Walter - chewing ice cream stick

Anybody that knows me knows that I never pass up any food. Heck I would eat that stick if mom would let me.

Hi everyone it’s Walter here to tell you about some mischief our pawrents have been up to. First you have to click on this link (it will open in another tab or window) and turn your volume up but don’t forget to come back to this page.

Now back to the story. A couple of days ago we all hopped in the car but we didn’t get to go for a walk. Mom got out when we pulled into the parking lot (dad stayed with us in the air conditioning) and came back with a big box. She put the box in the back of the car and when we got home she took it out. Look what was in the box!

It's a Shark!

It’s a Shark!

I did not want to get too close to that thing at first. Mom and dad were very excited and played with it a lot. First they did a test drive on the small (5 ft. x 6 ft.) rug in the kitchen.

Look at all that crap in the canister from just one little rug!

Look at all that crap in the canister from just one little rug!

The pawrents were all giddy about how you could watch the dirt pile up in the clear canister. You know what they say about simple minds don’t you? As you can see I wasn’t very scared by this Shark really. After the first test drive they emptied the canister and then went upstairs to vacuum some more.

Can you believe they vacuumed rugs that had just been done the day before? As you can see it was worth the effort. Millie and I aren’t scared of this shark at all. It is actually pretty quiet for a vacuum.

In case your pawrents want to know the details my mom made me include this link to the Shark. They are happy they got this new vacuum because obviously the old one wasn’t working very well.

Pirate King of Blogville

Today we honor our beloved Frankie Furter who had a health scare a couple of weeks ago and we all feared he might lose one of his eyes. Our dear friends at The Dachsies With Moxie came up with an idea of how to help Frankie and his family feel better. We would all tell a tale of Frankie Furter the Pirate King. The good news is that with proper treatment Frankie’s eye should be just fine but we all decided that it would still be fun to play along so here goes.

millie walter pirate dogs

The first thing we did was get in the spirit. Our Auntie Agnes (WHN from Dachsies with Moxie) sent us these great pirate bandanas so we did our best to model them. Of course Millie won’t sit and always has to lay down. 😦

Now we know how much Frankie loves to write limericks so we decided to tell our tale in that form. It really is a fractured fairy tale so here goes.

CinderellaSlipperThe dread pirate king Frankie the Furter
Did pilage, plunder and murder
He captured a fair lass
With a slipper made of glass
But he swore he would never hurt her

We have no idea how that Cinderella girl got captured by the Pirate King Frankie Furter but at least he did the right thing and let her go unharmed. Of course he did enjoy a swirl around the ball room dancing with her first.

Cinderella

Don’t worry Penny and Ruby we all know the real Frankie Furter only has eyes for you two.

So there is our chapter in the “Life of Frankie Furter the Pirate King of Blogville”. We hope you all, and especially Frankie and his family, enjoyed it.
